What does the Christmas mean for those struggling with HIV?

In this article, the Revd Canon Dr Gideon B Byamugisha claims: ‘For people affected by HIV – whether HIV-positive, orphaned or widowed, or at-risk families, communities, nations and continents – Christmas does not leave us indifferent, resigned and fatalistic regarding what is happening to us. Rather, our faith in the Christmas story puts us in a position of creative tension in mission: fully aware of our pain and sorrow but full of faith, expectation and hope (like the pregnant Mary, the baffled Joseph and the elderly Simeon).’
